The Best Things...

There aren't many things that make me smile; they are hard to come by. So when I find something that truly makes my heart swoon and my smile beam like sunshine, I keep it close to my heart. This post is actually inspired by fellow Torontonian Cleone, who is a minimalist, a beauty queen and a very talented girl. Her post titled "最美好的事情" roughly translated to "The most beauty things..." has so many points that resonates bits and pieces of my life.

So I share with you, 10 best things that make my life awesome the way it is:

1. When...my Tim Horton's rim says "you win a free coffee!"
2. When... I kindly let a random stranger merge in front of me and in receipt I get a little thank you hand gesture
3. When... friends and family think I am so musically talented, but the only song I can play is River Flows In You by muscle memory
4. When... I walk from 40 degrees humid weather into blasted AC at the mall (I think this is happiness for most people!)
5. When... ajummas speak to me in Korean
6. When... Mr.W holds my hand on a crowded street
7. When... I am freed from the prison of my bra at the end of the day
8. When... served with a great piece of medium rare steak and a glass of wine
9. When... I am able to let go and forgive those who have wronged me
10. When... I find money in my pockets I've forgotten about
BONUS: (taken from Cleone and oh so true) - trying samples (at T&T) without the intentions of ever buying the product

What are some things that make your life complete?

Rain Rain Go Away....please?

Gahh!! It's raining! Not enough to wear rain boots but enough for you to get wet without an umbrella ):

Whereever you are, I hope you're getting more sunshine than I am (which is NIL)! Since it's so drabby outside I have no motivation to blog, but I do want to share the three blogger awards I got from Georgina (which I shall now shorten to Gee :p) of Coffretgorge! Thanks hun! Thanks everyone for reading this blog and it's sporadic posts.... (though I think I am consistently blogging on Mondays and Wednesdays?! teeheeheeee).

Now the rules of receiving these awards is to share 5 new facts about yourself. Really? So the 10 things I've shared is not sufficient?! I'm so boringgggg that I can probably only come up with 1 or 2 more facts!

1. I am spoiled rotten by Mr.W. Though I am an independent female of the 20th century, I rely on him A LOT. Maybe too much. He drives me to places, cooks enough for me so I do not starve, feeds me fruit slices in which he has meticulously peeled, rubs my tummy when it makes strange noises, gives me massages when my shoulders/back ache after long days of work - all are some of the many things he does for me. He's also my conscience that I SHOULD listen to, but obviously I don't XD. I am shamelessly professing my adoration to you Mr.W!

2. For the past 4 years I have paid another person to prepare and file my personal taxes even though I am completely capable of doing it myself.

3. I have pieces of clothing that I wear once and then donate and others that I've worn the life out of but still show up in public with it =D A prime example are these pair of jeans that fit to a perfect T on me, but I wore them so often, a hole tore through the fabric near the bum! I wasn't aware of this until my sister pointed out that there was a pink splotch on the back of my jeans. It was then that I realize it wasn't a stain but my undies peeping through hah!

4. Speaking of undies (I know this is borderline R rated), but I only purchase pink undies. Yes, pink is one of my favorite colors!

5. My dream job is to be a housewife whom is relieved of all housewife duties. But, who am I kidding?!

You have now successful finished reading the most boring blog post. Give yourself a little pat on your back!! I can't be selfish so I shall pass these awards to the following lovely bloggers:

Ani of 熊貓girl
M.A.C. nunu
missmicchan
Anne of LOLanne
Kym of beecreative
Steph of Beauty and Gardens
Tammy of tummycake (though I think you're still on vacation....)

I think Georgina has already tagged some of the other bloggers! I know my list is short so if anyone else who has not been given these awards and would like to share somethings about yourself I gift these awards to you! ^___^

Happy Hump Day!

10 Honest Things About Me

I rarely do tags because a) I forget; b) it's time consuming; c) I don't think people want to know about me?!?

Anyway I got tagged by Steph and I have some time to kill on the Wednesday night *twiddle thumbs*.... plus it's only 10 things!

1. Insert any photo -- since I have incredibly low self esteem only my feet will grace this post.... =D

These are my bunny slippers! Unfortunately they are breaking near the toes.... Oh, also the photo came out like that! (no editing what so ever.... it was taken with my SE G900 phone... don't know how it happened but quite neat!)

2. I didn't start wearing makeup until university (and even then... actually even now I rarely do!!). I think I bought my first eyeliner after my sister purchased hers! I didn't think makeup was important, plus, my mommy always says that I am naturally beautiful.... =P Kidding aside, I didn't take into consideration of my appearance until university.

3. I love rockband. But I also suck at rockband.

4. I love grapes more than any other fruit (well...maybe watermelons). Someone once told me that grapes are the best because if you pick a bad one, you can throw it away and choose another. However, if you cut a bad orange (i.e. it's dry or sour), you're stuck with that orange.

5. I want to try circle lens, but is afraid of going blind. Health of eyes > curiousity

6. I play the piano, but I am not musically talented. I was just fortunate enough to be able to pick up an instrument.

7. I'm the shortest in my family, standing at approximately 5'2'', but I love flats too much to give them up for heels and be a few inches taller. Sometimes I do wish I was more lanky and tall!

8. I hate spicy food.

9. I have over 40 pairs of earrings (I didn't even count the ones I cannot find in my room yet....). I love collecting earrings, but I only wear a few pairs consistently.

10. I wish I could spend half the year in Asia and half the year in Canada! It's too cold in the winter so I want to be somewhere warm!

11. I guess the photo did not count as a fact....! I've been blogging for 8 years and have had three decent blogs before blogger. I don't know why I stopped writing in each of them - probably because the host got too ambitious and tried too many new things turning me off from using their platform. I like blogger! Sometimes I wish uploading photos and the html were not so confusing but overall it's pleasant enough for me to ignore these little nuances. Thank you to my fellow bloggers and followers for making blogging so much more fun!

I tag all of my... 19 followers (heheh) to do this! Except for Steph...Unless you want to share another 10 new facts.

Happy hump day!

Chinese New Years and Jewelry Haul

I've been lazy and avoided blogging! Actually I've been swamped with work so blogging has been on the back burner lately..... at least I am blogging once a week! =P

Anyway here is my haul from Steph of Julu Jewelry:

Always the immaculate wrapper!! I love all the candy she included, of which I gobbled all up the next day! SO YUMMY! Steph was also too kind and included the VS sparkling eyeshadow in Twinkled Pink for me to try! Unfortunately my plans to dress up for Vday and to test out the eyeshadow failed because I ended up staying at home for CNY (therefore I decided to slob it down for the day =P)

I ordered the Golden Bow Earrings with Hearts and the Star Bit Clusters necklace. When I first saw the golden bow earrings I just fell in love with them!! I knew I had to have them so I made sure Steph reserved them for me. To be honest, I also had the deep sea blue hearts earrings in the shopping cart as well, but Mr. W said I was too greedy and should let some other girl out there be lucky for once... (aka I need to exercise some self restraint -__-;;), so in the end I had to let the other pair go... but now I am kicking myself because it looks like it's been sold! I've been wearing these almost every day because they are 14K filled wires and have not had any allergic reactions.

(testing out my internal 1.3MP camera on GD580 /lollipop cellphone.....not bad quality!)

I've also been interchanging my star bit clusters necklace with the small heart necklace (also from Julu Jewelry) every day causing Mr. W to be quite miffed since I've been neglecting the heart necklace he got for me from Swarovski -haha!!. Thanks Steph! (Don't worry, I take full responsibility for the petty arguments between Mr.W and I :p)

This is the montage of all the meat I had on chinese new years. My mouth is watering right now writing this post!!

Happy Friday!!

Out of the Pit

As to quote my sister.....I am out of the pit!!!!!!!

No more studying FOREVER!!!! I'm too excited for words, but this literally has the same status quo as the Oscars. Congrats to all those who sat for the 2009 UFE.

Splendour without Diminishment (an understatement?)

November was a pretty intense and busy month. I was sent to the west coast, Splendor sine occasu, for a quick work excursion.... and it was work work work work all week. The best time I had was the five hour flight back home...I guess that says alot!

I managed to take some time to try out the sushi, which turned out to be a disappointment considering the west coast is known for fresh fish. I mean they're suppose to be right from the coast! I must say it's only comparable to Toronto (maybe it's because I was not in Vancouver City?!). I did try the pannekoek from De Dutch, which is similar to I Feel Like Crepe, serving savory and sweet, not crepes, but pancakes - dutch style. According to De Dutch, the Pannekoek, pan_ne_koek (pãn-ne-kõõk), n. is a genuine Dutch pancake, tasting similar to the traditional North American pancake and is slightly thicker than a crepe. It has a circumference of 37", a diameter of 12" and if you cut it into square inch pieces you will enjoy 113 bites. Simply delightful any way you like, but the customary way is to roll it up and cut off bite-size pieces.

I'm more of a savory type of gal, so I ordered "The Windmill" which consists of Shaved Wild British Columbia Smoked Salmon, imported Edam Cheese and Hollandaise Sauce. Actually being the diva that I am, I replaced the Hollandaise sauce with two eggs.

Other than the mediocre food, the scenery was a good change. I think the pollution is less prominent in the west; the drivers even drive less aggressively!

But it's still better to be home.

March Madness

This is for you... thank you for being you and for being my pillar of strength.

감사합니다!

MARCH was..... interesting, needless to say. It was is so busy that time is non-existent. When you work 50 hour weeks your life seems to be put on hold and when you wake up from this terrible hazy sleep it's already April. THIRTY MORE DAYS. To those caught in busy season, let us pull through! Fighting!

這件事很難
我是次子
我一定會 辦得到!!!

Some FOTM (feature of the month) from work, including the dinner at Medieval Times, which was enjoyable but would have been better if we weren't caught in the rain and if they served the food with forks and knives. Just because the actors were deep in part does not mean I will eat like a savage!

A horrid death for this guy.....

One of my client's buildings is situated next to a MAGIC BUILDING. At the same time, it's totally awesome and creepy that something like this exists.

Interesting, and then some. Across the street is where the homeless hang out.....

Despite the lack of sleep and stringent exam prep schedules, Mr.W and I still managed to go eat some unhealthy food at Boston Pizza and celebrate the fact that the washroom is finally complete! (It's the perfect washroom FYI).

My lasagna, which honestly, I cannot tell from food or poopoo.

And another lasagna that looks like they took the stuff from your digestive system and rebaked for 20 minutes. Or maybe it's just my phone.

The washroom completely covered in tiles, glass and wonderfulness.

一點點的回憶

It's nice to fly away and leave your worries behind, once in a while.....

To places that raise your spirits high, and to beyond your imaginations,

To singing birds, flowing rivers, and bright clear skies.....

And to a foreign land, where beautiful strangers melt the loneliest hearts.....

Recapping January 2009:

The last couple of weeks have been an emotional ride because the future appeared so bleak and miserable. Thank you God and to those who provided endless support. God works in subtle way to provide and it only takes a little bit of courage to trust. I do not know what state I would have been in without all the encouragement and continual faith that I had the ability to pass. I am now a third of the way towards attaining my designation!

I did not make any concrete resolutions for 2009 and also because I don't end up keeping them. However, a goal (an entirely different specie) that I would like to consistently upkeep into the future is to manage my finances. With positive results, I can focus earning income for the next several months and also begin to learn to manage my accounts. It must be surprising that as an accountant I have problems looking after money. Yes, my outflows tend to be much greater than I would like them to be. I think a misconception is that people in business, especially finance or accounting should have supreme knowledge with personal finance. In a way we do, but the case is that, we do not always apply our knowledge (on a tangent note, I also hate taxes, so please don't ask me to do your taxes for you!) But now that I am working full time, I will make it one of my torturous hobbies to curb my spendings and actually put the money to greater use (as in start saving so I can actually HAVE a hobby). I will not preach, but as a rule of thumb we should be spending equal or less than 20% of our (liquid) net assets each month. Prioritize your budget so you do not exhaust your finances and end up like the United States of America. It's important to have fun, but it's also important to save for a rainy day.
