Free food, free booze....

I love Firm/Company events because it usually means lots of free stuff! I especially love it when it's open bar, but alas, it's difficult to provide free alcohol to 400 people..... *sad face*.

Anyway this is what I wore:

Ebay Cocktail dress; XXI tights; gmarket pink heels; aldo & toy watch jewelry

earrings - ebay

close up of my connector ring... I lavvv it!... but my two fingers are pretty much rendered useless. On my nails is Midnight Mission - China Glaze

Okay, next post is Holiday Giveaway! (I promise since the holidays are coming which means no more procrastination!)

Wilfred in Taupe

Helloooo to Friday!

In an effort to get my mojo back up aka a la motivation to muster up some presentable post, I am sharing my OOTD. I'll be lying if I told you I wore this today because temperature is hovering the near negatives in Toronto, and unless my arms and legs were resistant to cold I'd never be able to survive wearing this outside now. But this outfit did keep me feeling pretty during the course of the summer.

What I wore: AE cardigan; Wilfred corsette dress; Gmarket sandals

I got the Wilfred corsette dress in taupe on sale at Aritzia at their summer blow out sale. The dress comes in another color (khaki or some shade of green) but did not have the cute pattern. Because of the corsette style, this dress makes you look really thin (but not starving skinny), though it also means you won't be able to breathe or eat until you strip out of the dress..... The size I purchased was 4 - I normally wear sizes 0-2 but Artizia sizes run small. But even in a size 4 I needed assistance in zipping this up because the material doesn't give any room since it's not stretchy fabric.

As a side note, I'd be weary of purchasing sandals with no soles from Gmarket (the flat ones)! They're worse than sandals from H&M, though really cute looking and cheap at $8. This pair was a miss for me because I've purchased sandals from Gmarket before and they were quite comfortable. But I mean, cost vs. feet pain. Your choice!

Happy Friday!

Korean Chiffon & Polka Dots

Hello lovelies! How is July treating you? It's super humid and hot here (about 40 degrees!)... not even which air conditioning can solve.... so I am going to avoid swatching anything since it will melt in 5 seconds! I'll just share what my outfit of the day is ^__^

cardigan - AE; chiffon shirt - gmarket; skirt - jacob

Oh the lighting's terrible! Wish I had a better photo but I was in a hurry. I think having chiffon material clothing in your wardrobe is a such a good idea! It's silky to the touch and I think is somewhat sweat resistant  :p

Hope there's nice weather where you are! Stay cool and fresh ~

frills frills frills

OOTD: tiered frill dress - ebay; skirt - jacob

That's my outfit of the day. The shirt is actually a short dress but I decided to be "creative" and have two uses for it! I'm very impressed with the girls out there who can take OOTD photos without disclosing your face.... your arms must be super long!!

I think some bloggers have already mentioned/purchased this because I've seen versions of this photo circulate around. Is it effective?? I think it's absolutely adorable but I'm not entirely convinced that it is actually moisturizing.

Happy hump day! ♥

Massive Haul and Spring Fashion

I was at H&M with Mr.W and he kindly reminded me to pick up the spring catalog. Way to encourage my shoppaholic...ism! -__-;;.

Anyway, did any of the items in the spring collection catch your eye?

I really like this dress! It looks like it's made of chiffon material (my fav ^__^). It reminds me very much of the Mori Style (very loose and ethnic). I want to get...! but I have not seen it in the stores yet.

I don't get this... her top half of the outfit looks like it's made of stocking material... so shouldn't she be wearing that on the bottom?! I like the blazer though.

And finally....

This is some of the stuff I've hauled at the end of February and beginning of March.... Most of it is my gmarket haul. Oh boy, I don't even know where to begin with the reviews.... also, instead of putting up a tutorial for purchasing from Gmarket (because Kathi of Lotus Palace has done an awesome job), please ask me any questions and I will write a detail response! I will also be going through some of the nuances/trial & errors I went through with Gmarket for this haul. Stay tuned!

Happy Friday ♥

Fashion in the 90s

I just want to say thanks to all you gals who've left me comments on my last post! I'm definitely going to try Nic Nic and LOLanne's suggestion on Revlon and L'oreal liquid eyeliners! Only when I know I'm not going to sweat profusely I use my MUFE aqua eyeliner in 0L. Even though a lot of reviews claim that it does not smudge, it does on me :( I don't even line my waterline!! Anyway I digress...

Onto today's topic! I recently found this reallyyyyyy old asian magazine in my stash of unnecessary goods. It dates back to April 1999 and is still in REALLY good condition! It's really funny to see how fashion progressed over the decade.

I still remember when bandanas were a fashion trend, and now we just associate it with Tupac O__O Or remember those tinted sunglasses that were usually tinted in the shade of orange or yellow?! I remember taking my dad's yellow tinted sunglasses even though they squished my head tremendously because I thought it was super cool back then... (I am aware that some of you may not be aware of these fashion trends, and these past trends are obviously going to date me pretty far back....)

Last weekend I visited The Bay with Mr. W in hopes of picking up something Olympic. There was absolutely NOTHING left. The whole Olympic section was like the result of a drought triggered famine and the remains were what was what the rats didn't want. Yes, the state of the section was THAT terrible. The only sizes left were 7/8 in GIRLS. I wouldn't even be able to get my head through the opening! Then I saw this....

Red's not my favorite color, but because I wanted something Olympic so badly, I got it!! During Xmas, there was still an abundance supply of tshirts (no sweaters though D: ) but I thought I could still grab something after the Olympics. Who knew that the final hockey game would be so intense and gratifying?! Did you know that an Olympic hoodie on ebay was selling as much as $1000? That's ridiculous.

I like my tshirt. The material is cotton and spandex so it's really comfy. However, look at the size...

Size 14 girls!!! Needless to say, I'm terribly relieved that the last piece of Olympic clothing at my local Bay fits me, albeit the size....

Question of the day: What is one fashion piece you regret buying/wearing in public? (it doesn't count when your mother was still picking out your clothes for you. It has to be based on your own decision!)

Gmarket Haul and February Giveaways

I finally have time to post my Gmarket haul! I made an order in the last week of January but shipping was slower this time around because some of the sellers were a little bit slow to domestically deliver the items. So during that period I stalked my EMS tracking # RELIGIOUSLY. The F5 button was my favorite key! I literally refreshed the page 10 times in an hour.

I purchased three dresses, a pair of shoes and a bag. The shipping surprised me because it cost almost the same as my last purchase....

 My favorite mascot!! =P
Again, the packages came in a massive box! I guess it keeps the items from getting crushed and damaged. The items were each packaged neatly in their own thick plastic wrappings (the ones where you may have a hard time pulling apart without a pair of scissors).

 Items unwrapped!

To be honest, the quality of the purse/bag disappointed me. It felt so flimsy and the inside lining was made of something slightly thicker than wrapping paper. When you place things inside it, it makes crackling/wrapping paper sounds! (go crinkle some wrapping paper and you get the idea....). The seller is 오렌지노블 and have appeared to no longer ship internationally or currently have none in stock. Also the colors of the stock photos are slightly deceptive since the purse I ordered was suppose to be off white/ivory with a tint of peach, however the one that arrived was more gold.

I love these shoes! They're made of suede and attract dust particles very easily (you can tell from the photo as well) but I think they're very high quality and the heels feel very sturdy. The only thing that irks me is the buckles. They're not the normal buckle down ones but kind of resemble paper clips where you hook one end onto another. It's difficult to explain but I find that many asian manufacturers use these types of "buckles" for their shoes... I guess it's more cost efficient?! But there's a risk that they can "unbuckle" more easily.

The seller is ★블루베리★ and has tons of other great shoes! I'm definitely going to check them out again for heels.

I've only had the chance to wear one of the dresses I purchased and I don't have actual photos so I am going to use stock photos from Gmarket.

Out of all the dresses I purchased, I am most pleased with this one... it also resembles the stock photo the most =P I haven't purchased from this seller before (★캣츠걸★) but I think the sizes run small! I normally wear small but I purchased the medium size and still feel/look fat in it! It's veryyyyy tight fitting but the quality's great. It doesn't look cheap like some clothing from Asia and is actually made in Korea! (I actually purchased some items from Gmarket from sellers in Korea that had items made in China!) Looking at the ratings for this seller, their items may be a hit and miss as some people were disatisfied with their purchases, however I'm going to purchase from them again since they have really cute and fashionable dresses!

I purchased these two dresses from the same seller and was slightly disappointed with the quality.  The material was still decent but it could have been better for the prices I've paid. The beads on the white top were coming lose and paint were coming off. Also the dresses had a funky odour to them when I first took them out of the packaging. This seller (디데이) definitely purchases their dresses from different manufacturers because the dresses were from different brands. They offer many other styles of dresses which are also very cute, but I would caution on the quality of the dresses.

Overall, this Gmarket haul drastically differ from my other order as there were no misunderstanding. Service was efficient!... and writing this review makes my finger itch to go on the site again... my poor wallet!

Post UFE Hauls

Needless to say, the few afters the results were posted, I rewarded myself with purchases. I was a pretty happy shopper that day I must admit!

I went by Mosaic for some jewelry. This place is possibly one of my favorite places to shop for jewelry because they sell affordable and very cute pieces. I purchased the 925 rhodium plated Mosaic Heart Ring encrusted with pink CZ gems and a white ToyWatch from the Plasteramic Watch Collection. ToyWatch is Italian designer wrist watch company that specializes in offering luxury style watches at low prices. They sell watches which essentially cater for the 'young' fashionable market, and have some famous clientelle. Including Oprah Winfrey, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Madonna, Al Gore, Charlize Theron (source: Wikipedia). Miley Cyrus is wearing the same one I purchased below:
(source: ToyWatchUsa.com)

(bracelet also from Mosaic!! The watch face plate 1.61inches in diameter, but it looks huge because my wrist is tiny)

ToyWatches can also be purchased from Holt Renfrew locations listed on the Canadian website. The White Plasteramic dial with crystal markers retails $225USD on the website, but I believe Canadian retailers sell it at $300CDN. I have not checked out the prices at Holt Renfrew but prices should be comparable to Mosaic.
I stopped by Sephora and picked up another Shu Uemura curler because I was getting so fed up with my Sana spring curler - it just won't curl my lashes properly and pinches my eyelids (therefore, despite the good spring effort in the curler, I do not recommend it!) I also picked up OPI Sephora nail polishes in Metro Chic and Under My Trench Coat. Metro Chic is a rather brooding muddy grey shade with a hint of purple. With two coats, it's still pretty purple, but three coats will make it smokey grey. I'm a shimmer or nude color type of gal, so I'm still getting use to this shade! I have not tried My Trench Coat yet but it appears to be grey with gold shimmer ^___^

I love The Big Bang Theory so I picked up a copy of the second season, which I will probably rewatch many many times. This show is seriously too underrated! I also hauled from F21 but got too lazy to take photos of my purchases =P. That concludes the gifts to myself....time to shop for Christmas presents!

Hope you all girls have a fun and relaxing weekend!

A Mini Haul

Collectively, my sister and I are slowly updating our makeup collection by adding and deleting piece by piece. I think it's more of a concern for me since I still have mascara and concealer from university. But then again, my sister uses expired sunscreen.

I ordered the Shiseido Integrate lipstick in shade #399 last week and the box arrived a tad dented, but still in good condition!

(Photo credits: I transferred my entries from my previous blog)

The color looks like it could be a deep hot pink but it's actually quite sheer and not as pigmented as I'd imagined. It's a nice color but I was looking for a lighter more baby pink for a spring/summer look. I guess that's my cue to do more hauls! ^__^

This is Lancôme's blush in Miel Glace and was $34CDN! The packaging was nothing exciting but at least had GWP (some of Lancome's best products face/hand creme is included). Unfortunately the makeup case is pretty fugly and undermines the concept of beauty....

I bought MUFE's HD primer in Mauve from Sephora to test out since I've heard great reviews on it. I was debating between this and the one in green that reduces redness but I think I tend to emit sallow yellowness more often (you know, being Asian and all). I also purchased Maybelline's eyebrow pencil to experiment with. I know I have eyebrows but sometimes I think they deserve to be pampered and given more attention. Side note, when I was a Sephora, I noticed that the beauty consultants are rather low in standards. The one who tried to offer me her services had three very noticable flaming pimples that looked ready to be popped. Yes, that offers quite a lot of encouragement for customers to purchase their products. Not to mention, she also had a very heavy chinese accent so it made it really difficult to ask her about specific products I was looking for. Okay, can't really flame her for her lack of English skills because I'm sure Kevin Beautymaker from 女人我最大 can't speak a lick of English either, but he can sure create amazing makeup looks.

I truely believe these pumps from Forever21 were a steal at $15. Mr.W doesn't like them because they aren't "bling bling" enough, but really, what does men know about shoes, unless they're gay, shoe sales men, or both.
