Post Holiday/Winter Giveaway!

Hello my lovelies! Hope your Christmas was fabulous and festive!

My initial intentions was to put up this giveaway before the holidays but I had my wisdom teeth extracted this past week so I've been too swollen to do anything productive :( So... now it's just a winter giveaway ^__^

I love these mittens and just in time for winter! So obviously I have to share my Canadian pride! But... because this is opened internationally, I realize there may be no winter in some parts of the world... this prize can be exchange for another goody (which is a mystery right now!)

Free food, free booze....

I love Firm/Company events because it usually means lots of free stuff! I especially love it when it's open bar, but alas, it's difficult to provide free alcohol to 400 people..... *sad face*.

Anyway this is what I wore:

Ebay Cocktail dress; XXI tights; gmarket pink heels; aldo & toy watch jewelry

earrings - ebay

close up of my connector ring... I lavvv it!... but my two fingers are pretty much rendered useless. On my nails is Midnight Mission - China Glaze

Okay, next post is Holiday Giveaway! (I promise since the holidays are coming which means no more procrastination!)

Tuesday Finds

Hellooo mon cheries! A quick update on a mundane Tuesday....

Went to Sephora today to help the Sister pick up her birthday gift and couldn't help but do some shopping...I'm such a nimble shopper!

I've also busied myself with crafting and packaging Christmas gifts =D My desk looks like the 5th day of WWII, but you're not a true crafter (which btw is NOT a real word...pffft) until you cannot find your crafting tools underneath all the mess!

Stay tuned for a holiday giveaway!

Wilfred in Taupe

Helloooo to Friday!

In an effort to get my mojo back up aka a la motivation to muster up some presentable post, I am sharing my OOTD. I'll be lying if I told you I wore this today because temperature is hovering the near negatives in Toronto, and unless my arms and legs were resistant to cold I'd never be able to survive wearing this outside now. But this outfit did keep me feeling pretty during the course of the summer.

What I wore: AE cardigan; Wilfred corsette dress; Gmarket sandals

I got the Wilfred corsette dress in taupe on sale at Aritzia at their summer blow out sale. The dress comes in another color (khaki or some shade of green) but did not have the cute pattern. Because of the corsette style, this dress makes you look really thin (but not starving skinny), though it also means you won't be able to breathe or eat until you strip out of the dress..... The size I purchased was 4 - I normally wear sizes 0-2 but Artizia sizes run small. But even in a size 4 I needed assistance in zipping this up because the material doesn't give any room since it's not stretchy fabric.

As a side note, I'd be weary of purchasing sandals with no soles from Gmarket (the flat ones)! They're worse than sandals from H&M, though really cute looking and cheap at $8. This pair was a miss for me because I've purchased sandals from Gmarket before and they were quite comfortable. But I mean, cost vs. feet pain. Your choice!

Happy Friday!

Rimmel - English Rose

Hi my lovelies!

Yes I know I've been MIA for so long that I might as well have disappeared off the face of the earth (but the question is, would I then be floating in (cyber) space?).... apparently not blogging for several months have turned my jokes really lame as well! And what makes it worse is that even Mr.Woolu noticed the lazy cat was my only post since three months ago. But my real concern is that Mr.W reads this?! Well... if that's the case - /shout out - Mr.W, please slowly let your eyes wander to the right side of the page where it says WISHLIST /end shout out.

Anyway I am back (not with a vengeance though)! I've been nagged so much to post something  that I swatched a polish purchased over the summer (around the same time as Plum Seduction). I'm still on a conquest to find the perfect rose polish. With asian skin tone hands I find wearing any shade of red not as flattering. I think overall Rimmel's English Rose is mediocre.

I like the formula because its thick and not streaky. I also really like the brush, which is wide and flat so you an cover your nail in 1-2 strokes. Maybe I just made a poor color choice, because I've definitely left this collecting dust. You can find Rimmel polishes in most drug stores and will cost around $3-$5 depending if sale discounts are available.

I can't promise my next post will be soon.... but if you want to catch my daily rantings, you can find me on twitter under the ID: superwoolu

LaZY Monday

Hi lovelies! As you can probably tell, I've been quite lazy.... I haven't blogged at all! I have been catching up with blogs that have accumulated exponentially in my google reader, but I want to apologize if I have not been commenting. I will get back into my groove very soon!

Superwoolu is super lazy like this cat she saw on the weekend!

Stay clean, stay fresh, stay beautiful (:

Happy photo bloggn' Monday!

Revlon's Plum Seduction

I am always on the hunt for a cute summer nail color and the other day I stopped by Rexall and picked up Revlon's 917 Plum Seduction. I can only describe it as a very flirtatious and color popping shade. The nail polish has a creme finish to it and is a mix of magenta, fuchsia and purple in a bottle.

(clumsy paint job... but nothing that a shower cannot fix! :p)

I've never been completely gaga in love with Revlon's nail polish formula and this one has not changed my opinion either. The formula is very watery so the first two coats will only leave your nail polish in streaks. The watery formula may be overlooked in pale shimmery shades but for nail polish with a creme finish.... *thumbs down* It took at least three coats for the shade to turn opaque, like in the photo.

I definitely really like this color and looks super cute in photos. The total damage was only really $5.99CAD and lots of patience.... so, has this plum shade seduced you at all?

NARIS UP Nose Pack Peeling Mask Review

What it claims: This nose pack peeling mask helps deeply loosen pores. Easily removes pore cloggers from loosen pores. The ingredients are gentle to your skin and can remove the dirt in your pores or the remains of your makeup without undue stimulation. As it is absorbed, it freshens your skin and restores it to a healthy condition.

I bought the 20ml sized tube and it's tiny!!! It's even smaller than a sample! This will not last more than a month if you use it twice a week.

The mask leaves the tube in globs and sometimes it's difficult to control how much comes out because it's so dense. The texture is gooey to touch but will wash off with water, or you can wait until it dries and then peel it off.

Caution.... disturbing photos ahead.....

warning.....

More warning.....

Okay, you've been warned:

If you (dare) click to enlarge the photo, you can see that my nose harbours quite a lot of white and black heads. If you glance at the after photo (you don't even need to closely observe because it's so apparent), you will see that none of the blackheads left my nose. The mask simply ripped out the hair on my nose and got rid of some white heads. I already did this mask post a 30 minute steaming hot shower.

I decided to be forgiving and try it a second time, 10 minutes after I ripped it off my nose. Observe the results below:

Both times it ripped out hair!! I've concluded that this mask will remove white heads but blackheads are too stubborn for it.

The Good:
♥ cleans out white heads
affordable, but not if you want to use it consistently
can purchase easily online or asian beauty store

The Bad:
♥  rips out hair
 doesn't clean out blackheads
there are probably other products out there that are more effective

Repurchase: Nah.....

I got this on sale for $5.99 on Sasa, but it is also available on Imomoko for $7.99. You can also try the NARIS UIP Eggshell & Charcoal Mask, which is a peeling face pack for removing blackheads, but I've seen bloggers use it on their nose too.

This big mess is the damage from my last post and which the NARIS UP Nose pack was part of. I'll continue picking at this and review the items I've purchased (:

Have a lovely weekend all!

Nothing Makes Me Happier Than....

The mailman knocking on my door at 8:30am in the morning.... and guess what he delivered?

purchases from ebay, Sasa and Gmarket

I had to withhold my glee for 8 hours while I was at work!! While I am typing I still have not unboxed these goodies yet! My shopping habits may look like it needs some control here but let me assure you that not everything is mine! =D I'll how you my goods in a future post ^__^

Let me leave you with the usual:

Green tea birthday cake from BNC (a Korean Cafe) courtesy of  le BF last month (:

I know there were tons of celebrated and to be celebrated birthdays in June and July for bloggers all over the world. I wish you guys a very happy belated/early birthday!

Korean Chiffon & Polka Dots

Hello lovelies! How is July treating you? It's super humid and hot here (about 40 degrees!)... not even which air conditioning can solve.... so I am going to avoid swatching anything since it will melt in 5 seconds! I'll just share what my outfit of the day is ^__^

cardigan - AE; chiffon shirt - gmarket; skirt - jacob

Oh the lighting's terrible! Wish I had a better photo but I was in a hurry. I think having chiffon material clothing in your wardrobe is a such a good idea! It's silky to the touch and I think is somewhat sweat resistant  :p

Hope there's nice weather where you are! Stay cool and fresh ~

Shiseido - The Makeup Gloss and Shimmering Stick

Awhile ago I mentioned that I scored some good deals at the Shiseido annual warehouse sale. I've finally found the time to swatch it for you guys! At the sale I purchased the The Makeup Glosses in G1 - Champagne Sparkle and G4- Petal Pink; the Shimmering Stick in SL1 and the Perfecting lipstick in P8 (Shy Pink). I believe the glosses retail for $20 and the lipsticks for $30 but I purchased all for $10 a pop because I think these are from the 2008 line (don't think they are discontinued yet though).

The glosses are very glossy (evident in the swatches below) and make a very good combination with the lipsticks or can be worn alone. The shimmer stick in SL1 is very moist and has a very glossy finish, but I think it works better with Champagne Sparkle on top. If you wear it alone, think of having frosty nude lips because of the glitter.... The Perfecting stick in Shy Pink is a matte coral pink (don't know why it's that red in the photo - refer below for a more representative shade). I love this lipstick because it's hydrating and glides on like butter - with no friction at all!

I'm off to prep for Canada Day! No work = lounging at the beach. Don't be too jealous =P

P.S. Just wanted to say hi to my new readers (:

Vasanti Tinted Lipbalm is LOVE!

My fellow blogger Macnunu has tweeted that Rexall is having a 50% discount on all their lip products. Too bad I already picked up my Revlon Colorburst Soft Nude for $10 several days ago! But, I couldn't help buying some more Colorbursts. I mean who can resist a sale! If there is a nearby Rexall to you, I recommend dropping in and browsing through the selections of drugstore lipsticks!

What I wanted to talk about today is Vasanti's tinted lipbalm. Because of the Rexall sale I picked up one of their lipbalms to try out. Vasanti Cosmetics is owned by three Canadian women and became an organization in 1998. Apparently, this cosmetics line was originally created to cater to women with more "exotic" looks. I don't want to define"exotic" so interpret as you please =P Vasanti also claims their products are not tested on animals (yay!).

There are reviews out there on Vasanti's Liquid Cover Up which is already a really popular product. However I decided to test the waters with their tinted lip balm. I picked up Bahamas, which is a brownish plum shade and according to Vasanti's site is one of their top sellers. Vasanti's tinted lipbalm uses ingredients like vegetable oil, seed oil, beeswax, shea butter (which is why it's very moisturizing), mango seed butter (sounds exotic and yummy), BUT it does contain paraben.

♥ PROS:
-very moisturizing!
-moderate selection of colors
-almost no taste at all
-glides on really smoothly like butter
-made in Canada... =D

♥ CONS:
-pricey at $15 when tinted balm from burt bees is 1/3 of its price (but get it 50% on sale now at Rexalls!)
-not widely available -- it's available at Rexalls/SDM for CDNs and at Ultas for Americans.
-contains paraben, so if you're allergic.... avoid :(

This is how it looked on my lips (with nothing else on my lips). Top is no flash and bottom with flash. I don't know why the color looks so vastly different but (reuploaded!!) it's definitely more pink than coral and more purple than pink ha! The color on your screen may not be a true representation of what it will look on your lips since my lips are fairly dark in nature but all I can say is that it makes my lips so soft!

Has anyone else tried Vasanti before? Also who has picked up Revlon's Colorburst lipsticks!? I have Soft Nude, Soft Rose and Carnation. But Blush is sold out! *cries*

Owl of Minerva and MIA

Hello lovelies (:

I will be MIA for the next two weeks because I'm going on vacation!! The destinations will be Vegas and Florida ^___^. Does anyone have any recommendations for Vegas? I'll be seeing the Grand Canyon and doing some shopping!

On a side note, did any toronto bloggers also go to the Shiseido warehouse sale?? When I am back from vacation my next post will detail what I purchased and how much cash I saved by going to this sale =D

Before I take my leave I wanted to share information on a korean franchise that I tried this week called Owl of Minerva in the Greater Toronto Area.

Food: - I would prefer appetizer refills! I ordered the bulgogi in glass noodle and quite enjoyed it!
Service: - really cute korean boys serving you!
Atmosphere: - it's hard to find parking but once you're inside, there's a lot of customers and the chitter and chatter will fill the restaurant
Price: ♥ - the prices are comparable to other places I've tried ~about $10/person including tax for a meal

There are several locations in the GTA. The one I visited is located at 5324 Yonge Street North York, in uptown Korean town.

Have a wonderful week and talk to you guys soon! I will not be updating during the time I'm away but may be updating on my travel adventures through my twitter (if you follow me you will know!) I will be back in two weeks time (:

Shiseido Warehouse Sale!!

Thanks to Missmicchan, my sister and I were able to pick up a whole loot of stuff from the Shiseido warehouse sale today! There is still another day of sale ongoing from 9am-3pm tomorrow (Sunday), so if you have time, go check it out! (address at the end of the post). Everything is from 25-60% retail price. There was such a long line up when we arrived at 10am (sorry forgot to take photo of the massive asian population all waiting anxiously in the cloudy weather)! It took us 2 hours to get inside and when we were inside it felt like china town (minus the bargaining). We've never encountered so many uneducated, bawny chinese women with their equally as rude husbands. Some women did not even understand the use of the products and still grabbed as many as possible. It's as if, whenever there is a sale, ajummas are the first ones to rush to the scene. It got so ridiculous, that before some lady paid for her goods, she pointed to her eyelashes and asked me in her broken English if she was holding mascara... O_O. Yes madame, it says so on the label, and if you are not aware of the use of the product why did you ask the SA for it?!. Some lady also grabbed 10+ Shiseido cleansing foam thinking it was moisturizer - maybe she thought she was getting a deal since it was so cheap. I'm not sure if she realized her mistake, but she put some on her hand to test and it started to foam... =P

Most of the items were geared towards Shiseido skincare products with limited palettes/single eyeshadows available from NARS. I wanted to pick up some Orlane skincare but that would have burned a nonrecoverable hole in my wallet. I would definitely recommend going to this sale if you are a fan of any of the Shiseido skincare lines, which are about 30-40% off. Their lipsticks/lipglosses were at least 50% off retail prices. I also saw a lot of people picking up litres and litres of hair shampoo/conditioner but I did not recognize the brand name. I picked up Joico Silk Result shampoo, a brand I've never tried to test out since it seems really popular among other people's purchases.

And now... the goods my sister and I collectively hauled (plus another Nars palette I forgot to photograph):

I'll try to put together a swatch/review post but there is a LOT of products I have to go through...I'm also too scared to look at the receipt....

The address of the sale is:

303 Allstate Parkway, Markham -- east of Woodbine.

Have a relaxing Sunday! Or not if you are planning to go to the sale =P

Boujois Classic Smokey in 04 Nude

It's Friday! Too bad I managed to get sick, so now my weekend is ruined! :(

A reader a while ago asked if I tried the nude palette I got from Boujois a while ago. I finally did!

Don't mind the dryness of my hand! =P I really like the lightest shade! But the three shades do not go on as pigmented as I expected. It took quite a few swipe to get it that shade on my hand.

How the eyeshadow look on my eye after following the instructions on the back of the palette. I forgot to take a photo without flash but under day light it is not as coppery or shimmery! I did not notice any major fallout at all, but I'm not completely sold on the palette even though overall it's pretty flattery for asian eyes. I did not realize my eyes were that brown under flash O__O And.... my eyebrows are a complete mess! =P

Have a very good stress-less weekend! (:

Lunasol Nail Swatches

Hello lovelies!

A while back I purchased two Lunasol nail finish from the 2009 Holiday collection. The polish comes in:
39 White Lighting, 40 Pearlish Pink, 41 Milky Pink, 42 Natural Beige, and 43 Pearlish Rose. I got the two in 42 Natural Beige and 43 Pearlish Rose.

I love Pearlish rose! It gives off a sort of iridescent effect depending on the angles I look at my nails. Sometimes it looks pink/rosey and other times it looks peachy! There's slight shimmer in the nail polish. I cannot say I have the same feeling for Natural Beige. I am wearing two coats in the photo and it's not opaque! Maybe a third coat will do the trick but I don't like the feeling of thick nail polish on my nails :(

These are the similar nail polish I have to Pearlish Rose. I need to find a dupe though!! I bought this locally, but I cannot afford to continuously repurchasing this at $15/bottle (and there's limited stock)! You can obtain your own from online stores such as Mihoko who sells it for $24.50.

OOTD: What I wore running about to run errands yesterday
Cardigan - gmarket; wrinkly tshirt - f21; wrinkly shorts - jacob; watch - toywatch

Hahha, I don't know why all my clothing are wrinkly =P I do like the cardigan though, especially the buttons! I will put up a close up when I review the clothing I bought from gmarket a while back!

Hope you all have a lovely week! I will try to update more often =P

Sultan's Tent and some Belly Dancing

First off, I'd like to apologize for my lask of posts..... I've just had so many backlogged errands to run that I didn't have time to prepare any posts... okay no excuses! XD I have sooo many blogs to catch up on (I'm afraid to look at my google reader... there's probably more than 600 unread posts!). I'm slowly catching up but forgive me for my tardiness as when all taxes need to be filed within 10 days, work is overbearingly painful... =P Anyway, rant over!

Several weeks ago for my friend's birthday, we attended a restaurant that brought the delectable traditional Morrocan foods to our tastebuds. Sultan's Tent, which I believe is also available in Calgary now, is like a harem, with exotic and beautiful women performing/teaching belly dances during the dinner (I use exotic and beautiful gently though because, well, these are just Canadian girls (maybe of Moroccan decent?) dressed in saris and the usual headgear).

A lot of the Moroccan foods had light spices that are probably only identifiable to Moroccans. The Harira (photoed above) is a popular starting dish that is described as a hearty tomato broth with chick peas and kidney beans. It looked more to me as chicken noodle soup in tomato soup :P It was good, but a tad spicy for my taste buds. I really wanted to try the sliced smoked duck salad but that did not come with the course meal and was considered a premium dish (at an additional cost of $5). Come to think of it, the dishes that were recommended or looked really tasty were premium dishes.....

Overall, it was a really fun experience especially when the dancers came out, or rather the energy of all the male in the room increased significantly.

Food:
Service:
Atmosphere:
Price: It's on the pricey side at $40/person for a four course meal (or $70 or so after tips & taxes... you may think the math is not correct, but they charge 20% gratuity and $8/bottle of water you order).

Sultan's Tent is located at 49 Front Street East, Toronto.

Rain Rain Go Away....please?

Gahh!! It's raining! Not enough to wear rain boots but enough for you to get wet without an umbrella ):

Whereever you are, I hope you're getting more sunshine than I am (which is NIL)! Since it's so drabby outside I have no motivation to blog, but I do want to share the three blogger awards I got from Georgina (which I shall now shorten to Gee :p) of Coffretgorge! Thanks hun! Thanks everyone for reading this blog and it's sporadic posts.... (though I think I am consistently blogging on Mondays and Wednesdays?! teeheeheeee).

Now the rules of receiving these awards is to share 5 new facts about yourself. Really? So the 10 things I've shared is not sufficient?! I'm so boringgggg that I can probably only come up with 1 or 2 more facts!

1. I am spoiled rotten by Mr.W. Though I am an independent female of the 20th century, I rely on him A LOT. Maybe too much. He drives me to places, cooks enough for me so I do not starve, feeds me fruit slices in which he has meticulously peeled, rubs my tummy when it makes strange noises, gives me massages when my shoulders/back ache after long days of work - all are some of the many things he does for me. He's also my conscience that I SHOULD listen to, but obviously I don't XD. I am shamelessly professing my adoration to you Mr.W!

2. For the past 4 years I have paid another person to prepare and file my personal taxes even though I am completely capable of doing it myself.

3. I have pieces of clothing that I wear once and then donate and others that I've worn the life out of but still show up in public with it =D A prime example are these pair of jeans that fit to a perfect T on me, but I wore them so often, a hole tore through the fabric near the bum! I wasn't aware of this until my sister pointed out that there was a pink splotch on the back of my jeans. It was then that I realize it wasn't a stain but my undies peeping through hah!

4. Speaking of undies (I know this is borderline R rated), but I only purchase pink undies. Yes, pink is one of my favorite colors!

5. My dream job is to be a housewife whom is relieved of all housewife duties. But, who am I kidding?!

You have now successful finished reading the most boring blog post. Give yourself a little pat on your back!! I can't be selfish so I shall pass these awards to the following lovely bloggers:

Ani of 熊貓girl
M.A.C. nunu
missmicchan
Anne of LOLanne
Kym of beecreative
Steph of Beauty and Gardens
Tammy of tummycake (though I think you're still on vacation....)

I think Georgina has already tagged some of the other bloggers! I know my list is short so if anyone else who has not been given these awards and would like to share somethings about yourself I gift these awards to you! ^___^

Happy Hump Day!
